A place where Colorado Rockies baseball card collectors (all 3 of us) can waste some time reading about our favorite sport. The Rockies and their cards will be the primary focus, but I like to go off on tangents as well so anything and everything baseball related may be covered here.

2013 Quarry Unlimited - #12 Detroit Tigers Part 2

As you may have noticed, it has been quite the busy week for player movement in Major League Baseball.  Usually the busy week takes place during the Winter Meetings, but for some reason this season most of the big deals have already happened before the Winter Meetings take place next week.  Aside from my own team, which I will discuss in depth tomorrow, the Tigers have seemed like a team that has made moves that don't necessarily look good on paper this offseason.  For a team that was fairly close to a title last year, it seems the Tigers have taken at least two steps back so far, but I guess time will tell.  It just seems a little strange so far.  While you think about that, let's take a look at the second half of the 2013 Detroit Tigers.

My Top 5 Tigers Cards
1. Torii Hunter
2. Jose Valverde
3. Jose Iglesias
4. Jhonny Peralta
5. Miguel Cabrera

The Tigers are another team which does not have many stand out photos this year, but I will still try to pick five.  I always been a fan of the shoestring catch caught on a card and this Torii Hunter card is no exception.  It easily stands out as the best.  The Valverde photo just exemplifies his 2013 season perfectly because he looks very confused as to what to do with that baseball.  The Iglesias photo shows off the Hispanic jersey alternate which panders to the Spanish speaking crowd.  I am not a fan of them, but I appreciate the business sense of them.  The Peralta does the same thing with the Negro League jersey, the Detroit Stars.  It is still a nice break up when looking at a team set.  Finally the Miguel Cabrera isn't really the best photo (not a bad one, but not the best), but it is the best player.  You have to appreciate that.

Coming Monday - #13 St. Louis Cardinals

Thanx for reading.
