A place where Colorado Rockies baseball card collectors (all 3 of us) can waste some time reading about our favorite sport. The Rockies and their cards will be the primary focus, but I like to go off on tangents as well so anything and everything baseball related may be covered here.

2013 Quarry Unlimited - #12 Detroit Tigers Part 1

One team that is steadily moving up my list of likable teams is the Detroit Tigers.  When I first started following baseball in the days of 26 teams, the Tigers were usually somewhere around 24 or 25 with only the Dodgers to thank for them not being last.  I really didn't like the Jack Morris-led Tigers of the 1980s.  I know there are some bloggers that absolutely loves those teams and they are absolutely correct to do so, but I am also absolutely correct in disliking them.  That's what makes sports so much fun.  Unlike most things in life, with sports fandom, you can have absolute polar opposite opinions and both be correct.  Unless you are a Giants fan, in which case you probably need to spend some time in therapy.  Let's take a look at some trivia for the 2013 American League runners up.

TIGERS TEAM TRIVIA

# of players to play in a Tigers game (1993-2013) - 436

# of those players to have a Tigers card (as of today) - 345

% of Tigers players to appear on a Tigers card - 79.1%

Big names left out - John Farrell, Hal Morris, Timo Perez

# of new Tigers in 2013 - 9

Total # of Tigers in 2013 - 39

position on last year's list --   #14    =  UP 2

Let's take a look at the first half of the 2013 Detroit Tigers with the team card leading the way.

I'll be back tomorrow with Part 2.

Thanx for reading.
