Here we go, my first Diamond Giveaway codes acquired from Eric from Manupatches & Chrome Scratches. This is actually part of my second, uncompleted, trade with Eric, the first will be a part of The Rockie Trading Post #18 coming up in a week or so. But I was antsy for finally getting a couple of codes so I just had him email me the codes and keep the actual cards (did anyone actually keep their MCG cards?).
Well on with the show of my first two Diamond Giveaway cards.
Glad I was in a hurry to get those two. Quick show of hands, who remembered Stan Javier was an active player in 2000? Oh well, my six codes that I actually put in myself for MCG were all traded away, so I might be able to do a large combo like I did with that one as well. (Hopefully they will arrive shortly, I got a couple of cool cards).
I also got a couple of the rings as well from dearly departed teams. One I remember much better than the other.
Honestly I wouldn't mind getting a real Rockies ring like that.
So it might have been worth the hype that I had built in my mind, but it was definitely fun for a few minutes putting in the codes and treasure hunting. And that brings me back to why I got into this hobby to begin with. I love the thrill of the hunt! There is no greater feeling in cards than opening a pack and getting a card you want or "need." And Topps has managed to give us a virtual thrill, I was not disappointed, even with lackluster results.
Anyone that doesn't want their unredeemed code cards, feel free to email me I will happily trade for them. I don't care if I get 100 87 Topps cards, I just want the thrill of the hunt.
