A place where Colorado Rockies baseball card collectors (all 3 of us) can waste some time reading about our favorite sport. The Rockies and their cards will be the primary focus, but I like to go off on tangents as well so anything and everything baseball related may be covered here.

2012 Quarry Unlimited - #30 San Francisco Giants Part 1

Yes, here we are the end of the line for the 2012 Quarry Unlimited set and it brings us the winners of the World Series in 2 of the last 3 years, the San Francisco Giants.  When I first came around baseball, the Giants were beyond irrelevant.  They were in the same category as the Mariners, Yankees, and Rangers.  I was completely apathetic toward all of those teams.  One player turned the Giants into a less than desirable team and that was Kevin Mitchell.  I just didn't like that guy and the combination of him and Will Clark was even worse.  Barry Bonds joining the Giants as a free agent in 1993 only made them worse.  The most egregious player is NAMELESS SECOND BASEMAN.  I still won't type his name on my blog.  He was so bad that he feuded with one of the more unlikeable people ever in baseball, teammate Barry Bonds, and made Bonds look like the good guy.  Recent history didn't make them villains in my book, but it definitely has reinforced my belief that they are the worst organization in Major League Baseball.  Let's take a look at the 2012 World Series champion San Francisco Giants along with some trivia.

If I were a Giants fan...

Title of the blog - Giant Leap for Mankind

Favorite Player (current) - Jeremy Affeldt

Favorite Player (all time) - Christy Mathewson

Least Favorite Player (current) - Brian Wilson

Least Favorite Player (all time) - NAMELESS SECOND BASEMAN

2012 San Francisco Giants Total Cards = 46

With the Giants comes the 15th and final man that also appeared in 1986 Topps, manager Bruce Bochy.  The weird thing about Bochy is I kind of like him...I just wish he was managing a team that didn't make me sick to my stomach.  Here is his side-by-side to show the graying of his facial hair from his rookie year to today.

I'll be finishing this set off tomorrow because of Wednesday's postponement.  See ya then,

Thanx for reading.

Beautiful cards of the best team in baseball. I am particularly fond of Blanco into the ivy, Casilla in the throwback, Crawford turning two and Lincecum bunting. Really hoping for a sweet Panda card!

I can't stand Bochy, that scheming, micro-managing, minutaie-loving, "just-sit-your-ass-down-and-watch-the-game" annoyance.

Ever since LaRussa left, he and Girardi are the two managers that repeatedly irk me.
