A place where Colorado Rockies baseball card collectors (all 3 of us) can waste some time reading about our favorite sport. The Rockies and their cards will be the primary focus, but I like to go off on tangents as well so anything and everything baseball related may be covered here.

2014 Quarry Unlimited - #21 Miami Marlins Part 2

ROOKIE PROSPECTS

My Top 5 Marlins Cards
1. Carter Capps (blue)
2. Jeff Mathis (green)
3. Ed Lucas (purple)
4. Adeiny Hechavarria (yellow)
5. Garrett Jones (red)

The Marlins were a fairly below average team set this year.  That being said, the Carter Capps is a very good card.  I've seen images of players falling over the fence off the field, but I never seen one falling on the field before.  The Mathis is a decent play at the plate card, but thanks to the new rules, he is a little too far away from the runner to be a great image.  Man I hate that rule change.  The Ed Lucas just makes me smile.  It is the most comically awkward looking double play card that I have seen in a while.  #4 and #5 were fairly difficult to choose because nothing else really stood out to me.  I went with the Hechavarria because the cool shades and the "in your face" type close up.  It pops nicely.  The Jones is a type of card that doesn't get used often enough nowadays, the interview card.  With the abundance of games on television, you would think that there would more interview style cards instead of less.  But I guess not.

Coming Monday - #22 Washington Nationals

Thanx for reading.

The Carter Capps card is so weird that it's one of my favorites so far. And yeah, I think that rule change really limits the quality of "play at the plate" cards we'll be able to get from here on out. Plus it's dumb.
