A place where Colorado Rockies baseball card collectors (all 3 of us) can waste some time reading about our favorite sport. The Rockies and their cards will be the primary focus, but I like to go off on tangents as well so anything and everything baseball related may be covered here.

July Quarry Group Break - Box #2 2006 Flair Showcase

Alright with my Pacific fetish out of the way, let's move on to the first of our big hit boxes.  But before we do, I would like to announce that the second bonus box arrived today and we got an additional three hits coming including a really good pull for one team.  Once again, that is later.  For now we have some pretty good cards coming up tonight.  This is a box of 2006 Flair Showcase, which is part of Upper Deck's (mostly unsuccessful) attempted Fleer revival of five years ago.  #'s 101-150 are short prints and #'S 151-200 are super short prints.   Let's see what we got.

BOX WINNERS
Tigers
Rangers
Mariners
Braves
Yankees

What a great box.  Three teams not normally known as hit magnets picked up nice cards.  The Tigers got the auto, the Rangers got the biggest name jersey in Teixeira, and the Mariners had their second straight great box.  Wes (aka jaybarkerfan) asked for a similar Braves hit yesterday while congratulating Ryan and we get a one per half-case die cut insert for him.  Good kharma indeed.  You know it is a great box when a Derek Jeter #'d to 150 and an SP of him only gets the Yanks 5th (and the argument could be made that the Red Sox' take was better), but I don't think Mike will complain one bit about his take here.

BOX LOSERS
Phillies
Reds
Indians
Astros
Devil Rays

Unfortunately for every great box there are some teams left out.  The Phillies were the only team to be shut out completely.  Sorry about that, Cliff.  The other four only got a single card, although the Rays card was a short print at least.  The Reds were a big disappointment what with Ken Griffey Jr. being the poster boy for the set and them just getting a Chris Denorfia base card.  But there are still 4 boxes to go and several more hits, so keep hope alive.
