A place where Colorado Rockies baseball card collectors (all 3 of us) can waste some time reading about our favorite sport. The Rockies and their cards will be the primary focus, but I like to go off on tangents as well so anything and everything baseball related may be covered here.

July Quarry Group Break - Bonus Bonanza #2 2003 Fleer Focus Jersey Edition

Well here we go with the final box for the July Quarry Group Break.  I had already ordered two boxes for next month from eBay and, once we sold out, I decided to add whichever one arrived first to this month's break as a thank you to all you guys that have made this break a phenomenal success.  I am equally proud that I didn't give away the secret of what that box was.  I tend to have loose lips when it comes to break boxes, but no one other than myself knew what this was.  It's the little victories in life that make you smile at the end of the day.

That being said this is a box of 2003 Fleer Focus Jersey Edition (there is no other edition BTW) which is a small set consisting of 160 base cards and 20 short print rookies.  The kind of set that we are all familiar with.  Nothing groundbreaking here other than the AWESOME boxtopper, which will be going to one of you.  The minor flaw with this box is that some of the cards were a little stuck together.  Nothing major, but I wanted to let you know some came out with a few minor chips.  Ebay is great for selection, but not much recourse for something like this.  That being said I am not throwing my stash away because they don't look horrible at all.  Let's get started on the final box for this month.

OVERSIZED BOX TOPPER
Materialistic Oversize Roger Clemens - Yankees (THIS THING IS SWEET!)

BOX WINNERS
Yankees
Astros
Brewers
Mets
Blue Jays

The Yankees were a big winner here with two of the six short prints including the Matsui rookie along with the Clemens box topper.  Sure it is a manufactured relic, but can you think of a better looking one (card subject not taken into account).  It wouldn't be a Quarry group break without a hit for the Astros.  After pestering Sam for the previous two months with great cards being pulled, the Astros were fairly quiet until this box.  The Brewers were June's worst team with a TOTAL of 7 cards in the whole break.  This month they are a top 10 team, even though Sexson may not be as big a name as he once was.  BABenny scored twice with this box with the Mets coming out with two different Piazza inserts along with several other base cards.  The Jays also pulled out a short print and a Carlos Delgado insert.  Nice to see them get a good box also.

BOX LOSERS
Tigers
Royals
Rangers
Indians
Rockies

Once again a great group break box, because it was hard to pick out losers.  The Tigers had the fewest base cards of any team (other than the Brewers who got a hit) so they "top" the list.  The Rangers had such a great main break, I am sure Brian is not shedding any tears over their relatively poor showing here.  The Indians had another below average box, but things may still pick up for them.  My team (the Rockies) was once again among the worst.  I don't ever want to be the best team in one of my breaks, but to be out of the bottom 10 once wouldn't be a bad thing.  Oh well Cubs fans say wait 'til next year...this Rockies fan will say wait 'til next month.

I guess you saved the best box for me til last, great stuff. That box topper is SWEEEET! I only wish it wasn't Clemmens but that's OK too, I can't wait to see it up close. How oversized is it?
