A place where Colorado Rockies baseball card collectors (all 3 of us) can waste some time reading about our favorite sport. The Rockies and their cards will be the primary focus, but I like to go off on tangents as well so anything and everything baseball related may be covered here.

2012 Quarry Unlimited - #14 Detroit Tigers Part 1

Today brings us the #14 team on the countdown (or countup as it were), the Detroit Tigers.  The Tigers have always been kind of puzzling to me.  I never liked them as a kid, they just always looked like villains to me.  Then they started jumping divisions going from the AL East to the AL Central when Milwaukee changed leagues.  That one didn't bother me much because the Tigers were gawd awful in the late 90's/early 2000's.   They were just off the radar.  Now they are winning again and part of me likes it and part of me doesn't.  Therefore, I think a spot near the middle of the league accurately defines my feelings for the Tigers.  I halfway like them.  Let's take a look at some trivia and the first half of the 2012 AL Champion Detroit Tigers.

If I were a Tigers fan...

Title of the blog - Motor City Kitties

Favorite Player (current) - Omar Infante

Favorite Player (all time) - Sam Crawford

Least Favorite Player (current) - Jhonny Peralta

Least Favorite Player (all time) - Denny McLain

2012 Detroit Tigers Total Cards = 48

As you may have noticed, the Tigers also look a little different than in 1986 Topps.  This is one that I do not feel bad about, because it should have been this color in 1986.  You think Tigers...you think orange.  At least I do.

I changed a total of 7 teams colors for this set.  3 are like the Brewers in that the old color didn't work with modern uniforms,  3 are like the Tigers in that I felt the color was just wrong in 1986 and I don't feel bad about changing it.  The last team (that will be shown Friday as #15) was a toss up that I was really on the fence about and came down on the side of changing at the last minute.

Thanx for reading.
