A place where Colorado Rockies baseball card collectors (all 3 of us) can waste some time reading about our favorite sport. The Rockies and their cards will be the primary focus, but I like to go off on tangents as well so anything and everything baseball related may be covered here.

2012 Quarry Unlimited - #22 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Part 1

When I first started following baseball, I really liked the California Angels.  They had a nice combo of future Hall of Fame players Rod Carew and Reggie Jackson winding down their careers along with some other solid veterans like Bob Boone, Bobby Grich, and Mike Witt.  I was seriously rooting for them in the 1986 playoffs, but that obviously didn't work out.  I also rooted for them in the 2002 World Series, which was the first World Series I had watched since the strike of 1994.  What pushed the Angels down my list was the sale of the team from legendary cowboy and fantastic owner Gene Autry to Disney which renamed them the Anaheim Angels.  This wasn't a huge problem for me although the Anaheim logo was horrible.  Then, Disney sold to current owner Arte Moreno who changed the name to Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to try and appease everyone.  The Angels nickname doesn't work with Los Angeles, which is why it was changed to California to begin with.  While I steam over the most ridiculous team name in all of sports (yes even worse than Oklahoma City Thunder), take a look at some trivia and the first half of the 2012 L.A. Angels of Anaheim.

If I were an Angels fan...

2012 Los Angeles Angels Total Cards = 45

I unintentionally did something kind of neat.  As everyone already knows today and tomorrow is Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, I don't think there is a more appropriate team to feature on those two days than the Angels.  It really was a fortunate coincidence and not planned.  Either way, I hope everyone has a safe an happy holiday season and I thank you for visiting my little corner of the Internet.

Thanx for reading.
