A place where Colorado Rockies baseball card collectors (all 3 of us) can waste some time reading about our favorite sport. The Rockies and their cards will be the primary focus, but I like to go off on tangents as well so anything and everything baseball related may be covered here.

2014 Quarry Unlimited - #3 Milwaukee Brewers Part 1

As a lot of you are aware, although I am a hardcore Rockies fan, I do not live anywhere near the team.  In fact I live in a state with no MLB team whatsoever.  Major League Baseball has divided the country into spheres of influence in order to decide which team falls into place as the "local" team for areas of the country without a team.  I am a part of the Cincinnati Reds sphere of influence, which is okay.  At least it is a National League team and I get to see my Rockies play the Reds either 6 or 7 times per season.  Added with the 4-5 WGN Cubs games and the 2-3 (if I am lucky) Rockies games airing on national broadcasts, altogether I get to watch approximately 15 Rockies games on television each season.  I am still old school and prefer to watch baseball on television rather than on the computer and I don't have any full season cable packages either.  Because of that there are a lot of times I get to watch baseball without having a real rooting interest (either for or against) either team.  And since my local and national teams are both located in the National League Central, I get to see those teams play a whole lot.  The one NL Central team that captured my attention more than any other was the Milwaukee Brewers.

I absolutely fell in love with the Brewers this season.  If you took Ryan Braun off of this team and the Brew Crew would have definitely supplanted the Royals at #2 and they still might next season.  Heck, if they keep this up in a few years they might be 1a with the Rockies.  I can't really fully understand why I like the Brewers so much.  Their current uniforms are the absolute definition of boring, they were always one of those teams that I knew next to nothing about (other than they were hairy and scary) when I was growing up, they were once Bud Selig's team which believe me I don't consider a compliment, and for the most part they have just kind of been there without creating much of a stir.  But I have really taken a liking to Khris Davis, Scooter Gennett, Carlos Gomez, Jonathan Lucroy, Jean Segura, Wily Peralta, and the rest of the Crew.  In fact, Khris Davis is my favorite current player with no past or present Rockies affiliation.  Most of the time I like to know a reason for things, but some things are better left unexplained.  I think my growing affection for the Milwaukee Brewers is one of those things.

I've always thought of the Brewers as a "green" team so I think that color border works with them well.

I wouldn't have rated them nearly as high. Aside from the Ryan Braun thing, they're last-minute collapse let the Giants sneak into the playoffs.
