A place where Colorado Rockies baseball card collectors (all 3 of us) can waste some time reading about our favorite sport. The Rockies and their cards will be the primary focus, but I like to go off on tangents as well so anything and everything baseball related may be covered here.

2014 Quarry Unlimited - #1 Colorado Rockies Part 2

YELLOW

RED

ORANGE

ROOKIE PROSPECTS

My Top 5 Rockies Cards

1. Nolan Arenado (Red)
2. Brett Anderson (Yellow)
3. Josh Rutledge (Blue)
4. D.J. LeMahieu (Purple)
5. Michael Cuddyer (Yellow)

The Arenado card does such a great job of showing him doing what he does better than most, play outstanding defense.  I love shots that show the various facial expressions of the fans.  The Brett Anderson card also shows him doing what he does best, eating while injured.  Normally I try to stay away from photos where the subject looks less than their best, but the Anderson shot was cool without making fun.  Another thing I try to avoid with card photos is hatless players.  However, the Josh Rutledge "finger in the light socket" hair was just too perfect to pass up.  The LeMahieu could have been a great double play turn, but it looks like the runner did his job on this on.  Great visual.  Finally, the card of now former Rockie Michael Cuddyer accepting his Silver Slugger Award is one of the only times I can remember seeing a ring box on a card.

Coming tomorrow - #2 Kansas City Royals

Thanx for reading.

Ah, we seem to be on the same page with the Top 5 here, though a slightly different order:

1. Brett Anderson's seeds
2. Michael Cuddyer's award show
3. Wilin Rosario roaring like a tiger
4. DJ LeMahieu turning two
5. Nolan Arenado visits the fans

If there was one Rockie I'd like to have play for the Padres, it'd be Arenado, that guy is amazing with the glove. I tend to think that "double play" photography is a little overrated in the blogosphere, but the LeMahieu card is killer. Man, these are great.
