A place where Colorado Rockies baseball card collectors (all 3 of us) can waste some time reading about our favorite sport. The Rockies and their cards will be the primary focus, but I like to go off on tangents as well so anything and everything baseball related may be covered here.

State of the Blog

Hey guys.  I have had a pretty rough few months here at the homestead.  I have tried to maintain an ancillary presence in the community with the occasional comment or two on other blogs, but I haven't been around as much on my own blog recently.  This led me to the obvious question, 'Do I want to continue putting out extraordinary (well, passable anyway) material or put this site into the blog-yard?'  In September, my answer was different, but for now.......

That's right, I am going to attempt to resurrect this blog.  I will be bringing back some of my old features and I have a few new ones in mind as well.

As for why I had my (for lack of a better word) sabbatical from the blog, I have been experiencing something that way too many Americans have been experiencing...unemployment.  It's been tough, but I am still plugging along.  Enough about that, because I do not want to use this blog to whine and bitch about my career.  I want to use it to whine and bitch about baseball.

I suppose I was also suffering a bit from blog burnout.  This blog was started as a fun way for me to share my hobby with anyone and everyone else.  For a while there I was very overwhelmed and the fun tasks of writing about pictures on cardboard began to feel like an anchor.  The worst part is the extreme generosity of the baseball card community helped with that.  Let me explain.  I love trading and I wanted to devote a single post for each and every trade that I received.  The sidebar on the left shows how far behind I got with trade posts.  I was not going to get caught up.  At this point I am going to say a gigantic thank you to the community as a whole for the trades that I made between April and November (including the ones that are in process of completing).  I have not forgotten about the trades I am currently working on.  If I owe you cards, they will get to you.

Hopefully I can continue proving that you don't have to have a lot of talent or intelligence to run a successful Internet site.  I will be back tomorrow with something I have been playing around with in my spare time throughout the season, Quarry Cards.  Some really crappy custom cards picturing the 2011 Colorado Rockies.  I hope you guys (and gals...no offense ladies) enjoy my attempted comeback.  Don't call it a comeback...I've not been here a year (yet).

Glad to see you again! Hang in there, by the way.

As for the blog, I say just don't sweat it. Update as you have time and remember to keep it fun.

I think it's great that you were trying to post about every trade but when trades are rolling it can get crazy. I wouldn't sweat it too much - just let the other person know you appreciate it, of course, or maybe do a multiple trade post every so often and keep it simple. I think everyone understands.

Always enjoyed your posts so happy to see you around again.

Welcome back Johnny. Stick with it, you run a great blog!

Oh, and you could always do one of Night Owl's huge trade posts. Anyways, when you get back in the trading mood, hit me up.

I was wondering what happened. Hang in there. Blog when you can. My own blog has took a slight hit too. Sometimes there are more important things that come up.

It can get kind of difficult - sometimes I've noticed blogging gets in the way of my collecting. In other words, blog time and baseball card time don't always overlap. This can be problematic considering time is not infinite...

Welcome back though - I think there can always be a happy medium.
