A place where Colorado Rockies baseball card collectors (all 3 of us) can waste some time reading about our favorite sport. The Rockies and their cards will be the primary focus, but I like to go off on tangents as well so anything and everything baseball related may be covered here.

Taste the Rainbow - #1 & #2

It's time for a new feature here at the Quarry.  This one will not be a regular weekly or even monthly feature, but I will bring it out whenever the time is right.  Card companies for the last decade or so have been adamant about putting out different parallels of their cards, be it a different colored border, different texture, or even different card backs.  These are usually the domain of player collectors, but they tend to fall into a team collector's lap as well.  This feature will show a complete rainbow of a Rockie that I have managed to complete.  For the first outing, I will actually be showing two different rainbows that I have completed since I finished them on the same weekend.

#1  2011 Topps Huston Street

Base, Gold #'d to 2011, and Black #'d to 60

Platinum Diamond, Cognac Diamond, Hope Diamond #'d to 60

Target Throwback, Wal Mart Blackout, Factory Set Limited Edition

 Rockies boxed set

It was actually quite a race to see which of my 2011 Topps Rockies would be the first to complete a rainbow.  I have several others that are missing 1 or 2 (mostly black or hope obviously).  For Huston Street the final card was the Hope Diamond parallel which I got in a 4 card Hope Rockies lot from eBay that I probably overpaid a bit for, but they are mine now so no buyer's remorse here.  I am considering this rainbow complete despite not having either the Canary diamond or Platinum parallels, but they are both 1/1 and I'm somewhat realistic.  That being said, if I can find them for a very good price I will probably pop on them.

#2 2010 Topps National Chicle Chrome Ian Stewart

 Base, Chrome #'d to 999

 Refractor #'d to 499, Blue Refractor #'d to 199

Gold Refractor #'d to 50, Red Refractor #'d to 25

Technically this was the first rainbow I finished, because surprisingly the final card of the 6 I received was the base card.  It's not even a short print and yet I could not find it.  I still didn't consider the rainbow complete until I had it though, so this one comes in at #2.

It is kind of weird that both completed parallels are of former Rockies, but as you guys know for me the team is the important part.

Hopefully I can have a few more of these finished before too long, but I won't even consider posting unless the rainbow is at least five cards long.  Thanx for reading.
