A place where Colorado Rockies baseball card collectors (all 3 of us) can waste some time reading about our favorite sport. The Rockies and their cards will be the primary focus, but I like to go off on tangents as well so anything and everything baseball related may be covered here.

RTP #28 - Special Guest Greg from The Mojo Beard

Welcome to the newest edition of The Rockie Trading Post.  Tonight's special guest is Greg (better known as Beardy) from The Mojo Beard.  For those of you that haven't met Greg, he collects a few Orioles, a few Ravens, and 2004 Topps Chrome Presidential Pastime Refractors along with a few other sets.  The Presidents are what started this trade up.  As some of you may recall I bought a couple on eBay because I saw them on someone's list, and then forgot whose list it was.  Thank you to another blogging Greg for pointing me in the right direction.  I sent Beardy those two along with a handful of Orioles that he reviewed here and in return he was VERY generous with me.  Here is my newest Rockie swag.

Let's start things off with this sick looking patch of Matt Holliday.  It is from the 2007 Upper Deck Spectrum set.  I cannot figure out exactly what that patch is (I think it is part of one of the O's in Colorado), but man it sure is cool looking.  This is my first Rockies patch card and I usually don't buy high-end product (well Spectrum wasn't high end, but patches usually are), so the best way to get more is to trade for them.

A couple of nice parallels of Troy Tulowitzki comes around next.  The first is a 2010 Topps 206 Chrome Blue Refractor #'d to 199.  T-206 is right up there with 1952 Topps as designs that need to go away for 20 or so years.  Yes they are classic, but now they are like Mickey Mantle cards.  We don't need more, give us a chance to miss them.  The second is a 2007 Masterpieces Windsor Green parallel of the only Rockie in the set.  The green is slick so I think it is the Windsor Green and not the Green Linen.  They made those parallels way too similar.

Next we come to a pair of Todd Heltons.  The 2006 Ultimate Collection is a base card #'d to 999  and has those sweet swoopy lines that Ultimate is known for.  The 2008 Baseball Heroes is a beige parallel #'d to 299.  I love the colored parallels from Heroes, although the beige looks almost exactly like the base card.  Perhaps they should've went with yellow or chocolate or something a little different for the 299 parallel.

Finally we come to the entire team set from 2003 Fleer Avant.  What a great looking set.  If Fleer (the real Fleer) ever makes a comeback there are 3 sets I want to see...the base set, Ultra, and Avant.  I am in Jon from Community Gum's group break and just got this team set there as well literally one day after Greg's package arrived in the mail.  Eric if you are reading this, these three or three exactly like them will be in your next care package.

Thanks again Greg for the trade and I will keep my eye open for more of those sweet Presidential refractors for you.  Make sure check out his (and his compadres') serious journalistic chops every day on The Mojo Beard.  Well that just about wraps up this edition of The Rockie Trading Post.  Tune in next time for a nice little Opening Day trade with a Cool collector.  Until then, we are officially signed off.

Of course I'm reading. But its a good test to see who is actually reading and who is just scanning the pictures.
