Another parallel I absolutely love is the Target throwbacks, especially of the 2009 set. These two give me three total (I also have Clint Barmes). I really wish they would build a Target in my town. But not as much as I wish that Ian Stewart could finally fulfill his potential this year.
Our Todd Helton card of the day is this 2009 Topps Turkey Red insert that I surprisingly didn't have. Well I did have it in my set, but not in my Rockie collection. Another of my favorite sets of the past few years is 2008 Topps Heritage (still incomplete unfortunately). This rookie card of Seth Smith is one of the best rookie designs ever.
As some of you are aware, I am not much of a football card collector, even though it is my favorite sport to watch. I just never got into the cards. However, the Bears are my favorite team and have been since 1982. Jeremy sent me a small stack of Bears with this trade and I figured I would show one of my favorite offensive Bears of all time. Marty Booker was just such an underrated player and he was traded at his peak for one of my favorite defensive Bears, Adewale Ogunleye.
Jeremy also sent me a decent little starter pack (about 40 cards) from 1980 Topps. I like the Tim Foli simply because it is the only action shot I received. Doesn't it look like Joel Youngblood has a broken arm in that pic? The Julio Cruz shows off the old school Mariners logo and uniform. While the Joe Wallis shows off his mountain man beard. Man, I wish facial hair was as socially acceptable today as back in the 70s and early 80s.
I would probably like the Astros more if they would go back to these uniforms or at least the logos. Sure they were a bit ugly but at least they were memorable. If I asked you to picture the Astros uniform, I would be willing to bet that most of you pictured the 70s Taco Bell style unis. Another of the kinda blah teams now is the Nationals. I understand why they had to move, but the old school Expo uniforms were so cool. Willie Wilson is the only player out of the 40 that I was pretty familiar with, although I had heard of several others. He was a triples machine and one of the better leadoff hitters of the 1980s.
The Jeff Newman is the second card I have acquired that was once in my MCG folder. I traded it for a 1977 card that was subsequently traded in a pile for one of my two cards that have yet to arrive. Finally, we come to a pair of Padres in their memorable bodily waste uniforms. I had never heard of Jerry Turner, but I do remember Jay Johnstone as the host of a late night baseball show on ESPN (This Week in Baseball maybe). I loved that show in ESPN's early years (along with Australian Rules Football), before they became what they are today.
Thanks again Jeremy for the trade and getting me started on yet another uncompleted set. That's actually perfect in my mind, because what would I do if I had everything finished. Well, I would start other sets, but that's beside the point. Make sure you check out Jeremy's blog here, he needs all the readers he can get (I knew I wouldn't make it without a lame joke). Well that just about wraps this edition of TRTP. Tune in next time for a trader that will soon pass me in appearances. Until then, we are officially signed off.

I'm glad you liked the cards. I loved the Adrian Peterson mini that you sent. Let me know when you need some more 1980 cards. I should have more to send.
