A place where Colorado Rockies baseball card collectors (all 3 of us) can waste some time reading about our favorite sport. The Rockies and their cards will be the primary focus, but I like to go off on tangents as well so anything and everything baseball related may be covered here.

So Long Ubaldo...It's Been A Great Ride
Ubaldo Jimenez traded to the Cleveland Indians tonight for a bunch of prospects including two great pitching prospects which I might be happy about in time. But tonight I am sad because the best pitcher in Rockies history with a very team friendly contract for 4 more years is gone for a guarantee of nothing. I am not a prospector by any means, but most prospectors think it was a great deal for Colorado. Prospects fail every year and even if one of the two hit their ceiling (which is by no means a given), you might have another Ubaldo in three years. I am depressed, but at least he isn't a Yankee which is the only thing I am holding onto right now.

I'm shocked...but at least now I don't have to worry about him No Hitting the Braves again!
I was just about to respond to your comment on my blog. I'm sorry to see your guy go but like you said, at least he didn't go to the Yankees. It's sad seeing him go but I hope he can bring some happiness to those Cleveland fans.
Oh crap! The last things the Tigers need is for the Indians to pick up a ace. I also mourn for the Rockies' loss (perhaps for different reasons).
He is a pitcher, and they are mercurial beasts. Cleveland gave up too much when I think their issue was offense, instead of pitching.
He is the leader in WAR amongst all Colorado pitchers, but sixth in ERA+ for players over 250 innings. The ERA+ leaders are Fuentes, Reed, Chacin, Ruffin, DiPoto then Jiminez. If it's surprising, remember that the park effects were astronomical when Reed, Ruffin and DiPoto were slingin' em up there...
At any rate, don't cry too much. You could have Jose "Fats" Mijares or Nick "No Mo Sinker" Blackburn.
