A place where Colorado Rockies baseball card collectors (all 3 of us) can waste some time reading about our favorite sport. The Rockies and their cards will be the primary focus, but I like to go off on tangents as well so anything and everything baseball related may be covered here.

2014 Quarry Unlimited - #22 Washington Nationals Part 1

Now we come to the Washington Nationals.  For the second time in three years, they were the best team in the National League, until October.  The Nationals are beginning what will one day be referred to as the curse of Strasburg's Elbow.  I still despise the Nats decision in 2012 to sit Stephen Strasburg for the playoffs even though he was healthy, so he wouldn't get hurt.  Someone in the organization had the hubris to say publicly that they wanted him to be healthy to pitch in the playoffs for the next decade.  They were quickly bounced from the playoffs to a Cardinals team that was 10 games worse than them.  In 2013, they were probably the biggest disappointment in the league by not even making the playoffs.  This year they had the best record in the NL and were again quickly bounced by a team that was 8 games worse than them.  The Nats are suffering from their own hubris and to be honest I hope this curse lasts as long as the Curse of the Bambino.  I didn't agree with it then and I don't agree with it now.

Total # of Nationals in 2014 - 40

# of new Nationals in 2014 - 14

Best score in 2014 - July 5 vs. Cubs 13-0

Worst score in 2014 - April 15 at Marlins 11-2

Border color that worked best with this team - Red

Border color that worked least with this team - Yellow

Position on last year's list - #25 = UP 3

Let's take a look at the first half of the 2014 Washington Nationals with the manager's card leading the way.

I'll be back tomorrow with Part 2.  As usual, your thoughts are always welcome and encouraged.

Thanx for reading.
