Now we come to the Washington Nationals. For the second time in three years, they were the best team in the National League, until October. The Nationals are beginning what will one day be referred to as the curse of Strasburg's Elbow. I still despise the Nats decision in 2012 to sit Stephen Strasburg for the playoffs even though he was healthy, so he wouldn't get hurt. Someone in the organization had the hubris to say publicly that they wanted him to be healthy to pitch in the playoffs for the next decade. They were quickly bounced from the playoffs to a Cardinals team that was 10 games worse than them. In 2013, they were probably the biggest disappointment in the league by not even making the playoffs. This year they had the best record in the NL and were again quickly bounced by a team that was 8 games worse than them. The Nats are suffering from their own hubris and to be honest I hope this curse lasts as long as the Curse of the Bambino. I didn't agree with it then and I don't agree with it now.
