I don't think I can recall any team that was so universally loved during the playoffs that the 2014 Kansas City Royals. I don't think there were very many fans outside of San Francisco (and what do they know...they are Giants fans after all) that weren't pulling for the Royals in this year's World Series. The combination of the small ball approach, the former top prospects finally pulling together, and possibly the best outfield defense that has ever been put together just made this team so easy to root for. The fact that they came up just a little short should not take away from them. In ten years when I look back and think about this year's playoffs, most people won't be thinking about the winners of the World Series, they will be thinking of Eric Hosmer's yelling, Lorenzo Cain's many diving catches, and that dominant 1-2-3 bullpen.

I really like both the blue and purple borders for the Royals. Great work all around! That Cain is a beauty. Shades of '70s Topps right there.
The Sal Perez card seems to capture him quite well.
