If you had told the Cardinal-loving 10 year old me that the evil Mets would climb even as high as #17 on my list of favorite teams, I would have said you were crazy. Well actually my 10 year old self would have probably called you a colorful name which could only have come out of the mouth of a pre PC culture country boy. Not only that, but those evil Mets are higher than those same Cardinals that I used to love. It's just crazy.
That child from the 80s would be shocked by a lot of things in modern culture including the availability of computers (he didn't use one at all until he was in 6th grade at age 12), the wide spread usage of cell phones (he was astonished by the Sports Illustrated shoe phone), and the fact that the favorite team of his thirty-something self doesn't even exist to that 10 year old kid (Thirtysomething existed, although he was never allowed to watch it). However, I don't think anything would shock that kid more than the Mets not being among the biggest villains of MLB. There were three truths to that young guy and they were "Scooby Doo is the greatest cartoon of all time," "Walter Payton is the greatest football player of all time," and "the Mets suck." I continue to strongly believe the first two statements, but that last one has tamed with age.

Oooh, some good ones here! I'll wait until seeing part 2 to decide which ones I like the best. Those blue borders and Mets uniforms look great.
